With a population of about two thousand, the settlement perches high above Amalfi, overlooking the Mediterranean. Ravello, perched high on the cliffs above Amalfi, is renowned for its perspectives and its gardens. The city was once part of the Republic of Amalfi ; now it’s a tranquil important town well liked by visitors and honeymooners. The principal Ravello visitor attractions are the 2 famous gardens, Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. Both of these breathtaking gardens are open to the general public, and you can wander thru the tropical plants and enjoy fantastic perspectives of the shore.

The dreamlike setting of Ravello’s gardens electrified Wagner, and it is fitting that today music is a major feature of Ravello. Tickets can be bought online from the Society’s site ( see links panel on the right ). If there is a concert on when you are in Ravello, you actually should not miss the chance to attend. The aggregate of view and music creates an atmosphere that you are not likely to forget. If you are using public transport to arrive in Ravello, you must target firstly for Amalfi.

I would not counsel attempting this in actually hot weather, though – we liked the downhill walk but it was rather an effort in the height of summer. Divine : this is an example of several charming adjectives that may be used to explain Italy’s Amalfi Coast ; a coast stretch that links Positano to Vietri sul Mare, fibbing at the gates of Salerno. Encircled by steep rugged mountain cliffs seven hundred meters high, that drop dramatically into the deep blue Mediterranean.

These mesmerizing perspectives can never be escaped, viewed from the land or from the sea. The Amalfi coast is unique in the world for it’s natural beauty, fantastic perspectives, colours and characteristic ness. Tiny quaint fishing villages are scattered in clusters, on the front face of the mountain. Villa’s, churches and corner shops are built cut out of the rock, on top of each other climbing up the mountain from the water’s edge. All buildings are trapped by kept gardens and patios, narrow pebbled streets and perpetual steps, lemon trees, grape and olive vine’s and the perfume of nature.

It’s a presence rich in history and culture, which is still alive today, among so plenty of inventive memories of the past.

I totally suggest the Hotel Caruso in Ravello, it’s one of the top ten in Italy and probably in Europe. Not suggested if you look for a sparkling night. It’s ideal if you need to relax, stay in Spa with front view.
